YHA England and Wales (Youth Hostels Association) is a vibrant and ambitious charity providing young people, especially those of limited means, with an opportunity to explore our iconic countryside, towns and cities in a friendly, welcoming environment. We aim to deliver a healthy and educational guest experience with a view to positively impacting their lives, and are well on the way to our target of reaching out and enhancing the lives of 1 million young people per year.
With annual revenues approaching £50 million, and overnight stays totalling two million in 2016, YHA operates a network of around 160 sites offering Youth Hostels and alternative accommodation. We are now seeking a dynamic, experienced Chief Executive to lead YHA into its next period of growth and charitable impact. In this pivotal role you will need to skilfully deliver a strategic business plan combining stability and continuity with an ambitious capital strategy to deliver a further step change in the scale of YHA’s network and growth.
You will have an outstanding track record of successful and inspired leadership, and of creating and implementing organisational strategy and business models that deliver real impact and growth. You will possess strong business and financial planning skills together with the ability to build and develop high performing teams. Extensive experience gained within the not for profit and private sectors is essential.
You will be an engaging and effective communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills that inspire confidence, build respect and leverage support. You will bring energy to our team and will foster a culture of collaboration across the organisation, including our volunteers, which recognises and values diversity.
