Volunteers’ Week

1st to the 7th of June is Volunteers’ Week!

This national initiative is all about celebrating the amazing work that volunteers do for charities and organisations across the UK. With more than 2,000 volunteers giving their time to us per year, YHA is very grateful to all of our wonderful volunteers who make such a big difference.

Our volunteers help to manage small hostels, take photographs for our website, run our youth network, paint, clean, blog, run volunteer events, help at events like YHA Day…and so, so much more!

We’re celebrating Volunteers’ Week by giving a shout out to all of our wonderful volunteers, as well as talking about ways volunteers can get involved with YHA.

YHA Sheringham is hosting a volunteer event from the 1st to the 7th of June! Volunteers will be doing making bird boxes to encourage wildlife in the gardens, planting ready for summer, and painting the boat that sits in the garden! Volunteers are welcome for the afternoon, a day, or more!

YHA Truleigh Hill is hosting a volunteer event from 1st to the 3rd of June! Volunteers will be doing a general garden tidy as well as planting for the summer. Volunteers will also be creating an outdoor play area! If the weather is poor, there is plenty of painting and decorating to be done. Volunteers are welcome for the afternoon, a day, or more!

You can volunteer with YHA New Forest from the 25th to the 1st of June! Volunteers will be helping with a wide variety of tasks, and will be making a huge difference to the hostel. Volunteers are welcome for a day or longer!

Micro volunteering on YHA social media. Did you know you can do some micro volunteering from home just by liking, retweeting, sharing and favouriting?! Keep an eye on our social media channels (@yhavolunteers, facebook.com/yhavolunteering, @YHAOfficial, facebook.com/WeAreYHA) and give our posts a boost so that more volunteers can find out about YHA. We’ll be using #ivolunteer during the week!

Have you had a fantastic volunteering experience and want to share it with the YHA community? Do you want to have your own fun volunteering adventure? Share it here!
