Looking for a rewarding career?

YHA’s impact team are responsible for ensuring that YHA delivers on its five impact priorities for people, especially young people, as outlined in our strategy.

We are a very ambitious bunch with a lot of projects and programmes – more than you might realise. All that we do promotes social inclusion, equity of access, increased stays away from home and improve the connections to nature, outdoors, heritage and culture because we believe everyone has access to the benefits of adventure, for the first time and a lifetime.

If you’re looking for a career that is rewarding and gives you the ability to make positive change, please come and join us.

What you could be doing

Education, youth and partnerships

We manage and review our impact on the young people who need it most – from school residentials to projects like Generation Green. We aim to develop life skills and employability for our staff, volunteers and the young people we work with.

Working in partnerships means driving the ongoing management, co-ordination and implementation of nationally defined educational products such as Learning Outside the Classroom.

Equity, diversity and inclusion

The equity, diversity and inclusion team support the development of YHA’s equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategy. This team is responsible for embedding inclusive projects and initiatives into YHAs strategy.

From giving organisational support and guidance around EDI matters to working with colleagues, groups, and organisations to create a more inclusive culture and service, no two days are the same, and that’s what makes it an exciting team to work in.

Activity leadership

As an activity leader at YHA, you will be delivering amazing residentials for educational groups. Activity bookings are incredibly important to YHA and can have the biggest impact on young peoples lives.

The wide range of activities we run across the UK are excellent tools for expanding horizons and challenging young people to step outside their comfort zones into something they’ve never experienced before which is at the heart of YHA.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Lead

“My day-to-day responsibilities focus on supporting the growth and development of YHA’s equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy. I offer support and guidance around EDI matters and for many inclusion projects and initiatives. I work with different peers, groups and organisations to create a more inclusive work culture and environment.

“There are so many reasons why I love working for YHA. One of them being the opportunity to take part in five staff volunteer days per year. I volunteered at YHA Beer last year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, working with hostel staff and meeting our guests. I have also had the opportunity to take part in ongoing training, including my current level 3 learning and development practitioner apprenticeship.”
