With over 100 fantastic locations across England and Wales, from castles and manor houses to rural retreats and city centre accommodation, we are proud to give young people access to experiences and places they otherwise would not have.

As part of our finance team, you will be ensuring that our financial controls are in place and that management information and analysis is provided within an industry leading financial reporting framework. We are a very busy department, and our working life is driven by weekly and monthly deadlinesy, but we are a friendly and approachable bunch.

What you could be doing

Account management

We have over 100 hostels, over 40 campsites, over 130,000 members and every penny we spend is focused on delivering our charitable cause – making hostelling makes travel and adventure accessible to everyone, everywhere.

You will support our network by performing duties such as:

  • Overseeing our hostel finance accounts
  • Re-forecasting our hostel finance accounts
  • Budgeting for our hostel finance accounts

Financial services

As part of the finance team, you will support the financial aspects of the organisation, ensuring every supplier gets paid and every penny we make is accounted for.

You will perform duties such as:

  • Financial transaction processing
  • Paying and sending invoices
  • Paying expenses
  • Overseeing our relationships with banks
  • Assisting hostels with financial queries relating to bookings

“My role  is to assist hostels with financial queries relating to our booking system, allocate/transfer payments and process expenses. I also reconcile accounting transactions via Sage X3 finance system, ensuring the monthly management accounts are produced in accordance with our regulations and timeframes.

“I have work at YHA for almost 20 years and I have completed a range of courses to aid my development and systems knowledge. I also have received promotion from purchase ledger officer to finance officer!

“I love the organisation, the values which we stand for and our charitable objective and mission. It feels amazing to work for an organisation that has a positive impact on individuals.”
