We’re currently recruiting for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold residential.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Residential

YHA is an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Residentials at hostels in England and Wales.  DofE Gold volunteers make a huge difference to YHA through a range of activities by making our hostels as welcoming as possible for the families, children and individuals staying with us.

Volunteers receive free accommodation and can claim up to £60 in travel expenses.  The only cost is a £40 contribution towards food.  Accommodation is in single-sex rooms or camping.  Please note that you must be aged 16+ to attend a DofE Residential.

After volunteering with us, on request you can receive a certificate and a reference to help with job or academic applications.  To be added to our mailing list to receive notification of new residentials please email volunteers@yha.org.uk

Volunteers on this residential will be helping with two projects. The first of which is creating a nature trail suitable for primary school children visiting the hostel on residential trips. The second project will be grounds works such as path restoration, cutting back and general maintenance of our Victorian arboretum.
For more information please see our Langdale fact sheet

Volunteers will be contributing towards the YHA by helping to make one of it’s hostels a special place for future guests. The tasks will be hands on and practical, with volunteers helping to bring extra sparkle to the interior areas of the hostel with deep cleaning and painting tasks. Volunteers enjoy a Ten Pin Bowling and Pizza evening on the Thursday.  For more information please see our Kington fact sheet
