£12.71 per hour (applies to all, including those under the age of 21)

YHA York is looking for a Night Team Member to join our dynamic site. In this role, you will work shifts of either 6pm to 3am or 10pm to 7am, welcoming guests, ensuring everyone receives excellent overnight service, conducting security walks, serving drinks, and maintaining our high standards of cleanliness.

You will be a great communicator, ensuring that complaints and minor issues are addressed appropriately and that information is handed over effectively, while adhering to our safeguarding policies. You will also support food service, uphold YHA York's excellent customer care standards, and work as part of an engaged and motivated team.

As a Night Team Member, you will be part of a team responsible for welcoming guests overnight, serving at the bar, and ensuring the safety and security of all our guests.

What will you be doing as a Night Team Member?

We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:

• Ensuring the security of the hostel, making every guest feel safe and welcome

• Working on reception, providing support to guests and preparing necessary reports

• Regular inspections to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort

• Carrying out cleaning duties, helping to prepare the breakfast service, and covering various tasks to ensure a seamless guest experience

What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Night Team Member?

Our Night Team Members undertake a wide range of customer facing duties within the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors.

To provide this service to our guests we are looking for the following qualities in our Night Team Members:

• Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts – punctual, can work to deadlines

• Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel

• A food safety qualification would be beneficial (desirable)

• Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it

• Demonstration of our HEART values – they’re part of everything we do, and we look for people who bring them to life in their everyday work
